Book for reading

By the way, the book for reading this first term is:
"Frozen Pizza and other slices of life" by Antoinette Moses and published in the Cambridge English Readers' collection. The ISBN: 9780521686471.

Take your time

Here are 10 sentences for you to translate into English to keep you exploring the verb TAKE as a phrasal verb (e.g.: take away, take on, take out, take in, etc... Have a look at the previous post about TAKE and come prepared with the meanings of the phrasal forms I noted there). I intend to do further practise in this week's Friday class!

Example: 0. Devolví la camisa porque no me quedaba bien = I took the shirt back because it didn't fit me.
1.  Me sorprendió su dimisión.
2. Los reporteros anotaron todas las palabras de su (de él) discurso.
3. Cuando me vio venir, salió corriendo en dirección opuesta.
4. Me dieron unas pastillas para quitar el dolor.
5. Tu hija no se parece a ti en absoluto.
6. Vale, retiro todo lo dicho. Me doy cuenta de que estoy equivocada.
7. Contrataron a nuevos empleados/ plantilla.
8. Vale, entonces tuviste un mal día. No la tomes conmigo.
9. La mesa ocupa demasiado espacio.
10. No le ha cogido el gusto a su nueva escuela.

Well, if you feel a bit taken by this verb, here are a couple more for those of you who've taken to this translation challenge!

11. He empezado a jugar al golf.
12. Intenta no dejar que te invadan (y prevalezcan) los sentimientos negativos.
N.B.: Simply copy and paste the sentences on to a word document and type up your answers there. Finally you can either send them to me by email or bring them to class. Good luck!
